If you are looking to browse local shops for souvenirs, looking for fresh produce, or perhaps a gift for someone special, Ponce has a few shopping options for you.
General Merchandise
Calle Atocha – This is a street that has been closed to vehicles and made into a pedestrian Mall. Along this street and several cross streets you will find shops displaying racks of clothing, leather goods, costume jewelry, and food vendor carts.
Farmers’ Market
Plaza de Mercado – If you follow calle Atocha to the end you will come to the Plaza de Mercado. Plaza de Mercado is a famers’ market selling all kinds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, and much more.
Souvenirs
Mi Coquí – Located on the plaza near King’s Cream, this store carries all of the usual souvenir items and more. Here you will also find vejigante masks, santos, and original paintings.
Utopía – This store is also located on the plaza on calle Isabel. Utopía has all kinds of arts and crafts including carnival masks, hand made jewelry, gourmet food items, and more. This is a great stop for someone looking for an authentic souvenir, but take note, not all items are from Puerto Rico. Some are from other Latino countries.
